Diploma in Special Education
The diploma in special education is a program that focuses on providing students with the practical skills and knowledge required to work with and train individuals with special needs, providing basic care and teaching life skills, behaviour moderation techniques and social skills to deal with children with disabilities and special needs.
The primary objective of the program is to prepare and train teachers at the pre-primary and primary levels. The program is usually 2 years long, through the course of which the students study various subjects to aid and train them for teaching special children.

Future teachers are also taught the techniques of inclusive education for children with disabilities and special needs.
- Diploma in Special Education Eligibility Criteria:
- Students interested in pursuing a Diploma in Special Education are required to fulfil the following eligibility criteria-
The candidate must have passed his/her exams in the 10+2 scheme or from an equivalent recognized board.
The candidate must have pursued his/her class 12th in the streams of either science or humanities and the minimum aggregate score of the candidate must be 50% or 40% for candidates of reserved categories.
